We will collect you at your hotel/riad in Marrakech at 9am and start heading into the peaks of the High Atlas Mountains viewable in the background of Marrakech. The views will be getting more and more impressive as we mount the peaks of the Atlas. The highest road pass of Morocco Tizi Tichka reaches the high of 2260m that offers splendid views. Then we start our descend into the town of Telouet. Here we visit stunning Kasbah of Telouet. True, the Kasbah is in bad shape but the sites that remain are very impressive. Then we travel along the Ounila Valley passing many small towns to the town of Ait Ben Haddou. Here we visit the Ksour that is UNESCO protected. You will have plenty of time to walk in the winding street of the Kasbah and enjoy the views that are awe inspiring. We spend night in this town. (B, D)
Today road will take us across green valleys to high peaks of gorges to the rolling sand dunes of desert. At first we pass the city of OUarzazate from where we set onto the road of Thousand Kasbah. We'll travel along barren area that will eventually change as we start to approach the Skoura palm oasis and Rose Valley where we see many roses tree. This area is beautiful and the smell incredible around April to May where the roses bloom. Then we follow the road passing several towns to Tinerhir and Todra Gorge. This gorge cut in the tall mountains is impressive with the walls reaching 300 meters. From the gorge we set into the desert. We will reach Merzouga where we saddle our camels and trek for about 2 hours into the desert. We spend the night in Nomad tent with company of our Berber guides that will prepare fresh dinner for us and perhaps play the drums. Night in the desert with sky covered by million of stars. (B,D)
In the morning after watching the sunrise over the sand dunes we return on the camels back to Merzouga. Here we have breakfast and chance to shower before our departure back to Marrakech. We will travel partially different route along the volcanic mountains of Sahro with different formation of peaks and also along the Draa Valley lined by small towns and palm trees. Then after reaching Ouarzazate we traverse the High Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech. Late arrival at about 6 - 7pm
