If you’ve explored the souks of Marrakech and the dunes of Agadir and are looking for a completely different perspective on Morocco’s landscape, it’s time to head into the canopy. Accrobranche—a French term for treetop adventure or rope courses—has become one of the country’s most popular outdoor activities for families, thrill-seekers, and team-building groups.

In Morocco, this isn't just a playground activity; it’s an immersive forest experience that combines physical challenge with stunning views of the Atlas Mountains and coastal argan forests.

Top Spots to Hang Out

While several adventure parks exist across the country, two main hubs stand out for travelers:

Terres d'Amanar (near Marrakech): Located on the edge of the Toubkal National Park, this is the gold standard for eco-adventure in Morocco. Their accrobranche park features courses of varying difficulty, but the real highlight is their famous aerial zip-line (tyrolienne)—one of the longest in Africa—which lets you soar across deep red-rock canyons.

Accrobranche Souss Park (Agadir): Situated within the eucalyptus and argan forests of the Souss-Massa region, this park offers a cooler, shaded escape from the beach. It is particularly well-suited for families, with dedicated "Bout’Choux" (toddler) circuits and more demanding black-diamond courses for adults.

What to Expect in the Course

An accrobranche session usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours. After a safety briefing and being fitted with a harness and a continuous lifeline (a safety system that ensures you are never detached from the wire), you’ll face a series of workshops:

Monkey Bridges: Suspended rope walkways that test your balance.

Tarzan Jumps: Swinging from a platform into a vertical cargo net.

Stirrup Crossings: Moving across dangling wooden blocks.

Zip Lines: The high-speed reward at the end of most circuits.

Pro-Tips for the Canopy

Footwear is Key: You cannot climb in flip-flops or sandals. Sturdy, closed-toe sneakers or hiking shoes are mandatory for grip and safety.

Gloves: Many parks recommend or sell lightweight gloves to protect your hands from the friction of the steel cables.

Height & Age: Most parks have a minimum height requirement (usually around 1m 10cm) and courses specifically designed for children as young as 3 or 4.

The "Berber Lunch": If you’re at Terres d'Amanar, pair your climb with a traditional Berber lunch on their terrace—it offers one of the best views of the High Atlas peaks.

Tree climbing is a sporting activity as well as an entertainment for young and old. Souss Park is the first branch center in Agadir.

5 Different Routes:

White, yellow, green, blue, and red will be your colors of the day! For the little ones, a course has been specially designed for them, the white course, only one meter in height, and they will be able to regale and take their first steps in tree climbing. The site of Sous Park extends over one hectare, where fourteen fixed monitoring points are arranged with one or two companions for each course. We do not joke with the safety of adventurers. When the youngest ones have proved themselves on the white course, they can then try the yellow, which is also practicable by adults fearing too much thrill.

Then comes the green course, the simplest, the blue, intermediate, and the red course, called the Royal Eagle, at a height of sixteen meters, for the most confirmed.

Strong sensations guaranteed because the tree-climbing allows us to evolve in a new space, that of the trees, by means of a tension net, a wooden bridge, zip-line.

After the effort, the comfort is well deserved because even if the courses last only 20 minutes, you will leave exhausted by the full of emotions, the laughter between two trees, and the physical effort.
