DAY 1: Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco. Transfer to your riad.

Day 2: Marrakech – Setti Fatma – Ourika Valley – Asni

Depart from Marrakech and journey to Setti Fatma, home to the source of the Ourika Valley River. If you are interested, we recommend a short hike along the river to visit one of the waterfalls. We then continue to the picturesque Ourika Valley, where we stop for lunch. A possible visit to the local souk, which takes place on Mondays, can also be arranged. Afterward, we travel through scenic mountain landscapes to the village of Asni, where we spend the night. (B, D)

Day 3: Asni – Imlil – Ouirgane – Tin Mal – Tizi Test – Taliouline

Awake in the Berber town of Asni and head to Imlil, a rural village located at the foot of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. From there, stop briefly in the Ouirgane Valley before continuing to Tin Mal, the site of a former royal treasury mosque built during the Almohad Dynasty in the 12th century. It is one of the few mosques that non-Muslims can enter. End the day with a journey through the Tizi Test Pass, the second-highest road pass in the Atlas Mountains, on your way to Taliouine. (B, D)

Day 4: Taliouine – Taznakht – Ouarzazate

Morning departure from the saffron capital of Taliouline to the rustic village of Tin Fat, then onward to one of the south’s most important crossroads, the town of Taznakht. Known for its beautiful carpets, Taznakht is famous throughout Morocco for producing some of the finest rugs in the country. Visit a local cooperative to observe the carpet-making process. Continue to Ouarzazate for an overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – Marrakech

This morning, depart for the nearby ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site frequently used as a filming location. Explore this impressive fortified village before continuing to Telouet, once an important passage through the Atlas Mountains. The crumbling palace of the former residence of the powerful Pasha Glaoui can still be seen here. Then follow Morocco’s highest road pass, Tizi n’Tichka, to reach Marrakech for the night. (B)

Day 6: Marrakech

Explore Marrakech on a guided walking tour of the city. Your visit includes the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the ruins of El Badi Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Ali Ben Youssef Madrasa (Quranic school), and many of the souks where craftsmen produce traditional goods in leather, metal, and wood. No visit to Marrakech is complete without experiencing Jemaa el-Fna Square. (B)
